Support NYC’s green infrastructure as an Arborist Intern at Arcadis, working with engineers and arborists to enhance urban forestry.
Your Role:
Key responsibilities include:
• Maintaining daily records and reviewing daily reports of inspection personnel, providing feedback and advice for improvement.
• Utilizing the City’s ForMS program for assignments and acting as an ambassador for the City’s urban forest resource during interactions with residents and agencies.
• Learning tree health and performing invasive plant species identification.
• Using effective oral and written communication skills to represent Arcadis and/or client agencies in interactions with clients, local agencies, and the community.
• Administering all Health & Safety procedures as required by the owner and detailed in the H&S manual.
• Attending field meetings and participating in weekly meetings and mentorships.
• Providing administrative support for program operations.
• Reading and interpreting design plans, specifications, and shop drawing submittals to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Managing disputes and navigating challenging situations effectively.
• Supporting project analysis and decision-making processes with familiarity or experience in GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
About You:
The ideal candidate will have:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Forest Biology, Environmental Resources Engineering, or a closely related field.
• High proficiency in reading and interpreting design plans, specifications, and shop drawing submittals.
• Keen attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Flexibility to work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines.
• Exceptional leadership skills for managing disputes and challenging situations.
• Familiarity or experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary range: $23.00–$36.50 per hour, with actual salaries varying based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
