ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are seeking a Chief Medical Officer to serve as the clinical leader for our fast-growing value-based care company on the leading edge of high-quality, cost-effective healthcare deliveryThis role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and be responsible for supporting and managing Hopscotch clinics; care model innovation; provider performance; maintenance of high standards of professionalism and operational excellence; and quality improvement. We’re looking for a dynamic leader and ‘doer’ who knows how to inspire, motivate, and lead providers, foster a positive, patient-first culture, and deliver an exceptional provider experience at Hopscotch 

Geographic focus: 

  • Residence in the Southeast is preferred but not required 
  • Regular visits to clinics in and around Asheville, NC, and to Clinic Support Center meetings in Chicago are required and will be planned on a predictable schedule 

Specific responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): 

Provider Oversight & Performance Management 

  • Establish & maintain a culture of clinical excellence  
  • Support recruitment, assessment, onboarding, and ongoing development of providers, ensuring engagement with the care model 
  • Drive high-performing culture among providers through quality metrics, patient outcomes, and provider engagement 
  • Provide mentorship and support to physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical teams 

Clinical Leadership & Strategy 

  • Optimize and implement the Hopscotch clinical model to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care  
  • Serve as the clinical voice in corporate decision-making, bringing the perspective of clinicians to the executive team to drive overall HPC business strategy and achievement of goals 
  • Lead initiatives to improve care coordination, chronic disease management, and preventive care 
  • Draw insights from available utilization data to inform care model strategy and enhance patient outcomes  
  • Work closely with payers, ACOs, and risk-based partners to optimize performance under value-based contracts 
  • Identify opportunities for innovation in care delivery models and assess applicability to our model 

Quality & Compliance 

  • Ensure adherence to clinical quality standards, regulatory requirements, and risk management protocols 
  • Teach, coach, and mentor providers in clinical competencies, including via clinical demonstrations  
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, leveraging data and analytics to optimize clinical performance 

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships 

  • Represent Hopscotch in discussions with payers, health systems, regulatory agencies, community partners, and other external stakeholders 
  • Partner with Operations, Growth, and Technology teams to ensure clinical workflows enable providers to deliver efficient, high-quality care  
  • Represent Hopscotch at promotional events and conferences to elevate the Hopscotch brand and expand our talent pipeline  
  • Serve as a key voice in external communications, including thought leadership and public relations efforts

ABOUT YOU  

You’ll be a great fit for this position if you have 10+ years of combined clinical leadership and value-based care experience, including managing high-performing teams. Other requirements include:  

  • Have an active and unrestricted medical license 
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (D.O. or M.D.) 
  • Active DEA license in North Carolina or the ability to register in North Carolina  
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. 
  • Willingness to occasionally provide direct patient care via telehealth or escalated phone triage 
  • Travel requirements noted above  

You also have a proven track record demonstrating:  

  • A track record of clinical excellence with the ability to lead high-performing clinical teams  
  • Success in building and driving results in a high-growth, fast-paced organization, managing to success through scale and change 
  • Strength in execution, a drive for results and a commitment to excellence, accountability and follow-through using robust organizational skills, program management, collaboration and communication  
  • Strategic thinking, including the ability to develop robust insights from various sources, grounded in data and objective analysis, with the ability to make concrete recommendations and outline clear action steps to enable results.  
  • Articulate and succinct communication, including complex concepts, verbally and in writing, and use synthesized communications to drive execution and results.  
  • High EQ and a collaborative and trust-driven working style to quickly build relationships, internally and externally, to enable our work and culture.  
  • Executive presence and organization to partner with a team of senior leaders (including C-suite and BOD level) to articulate strategies and plans and ultimately achieve success, growth and results against our mission and vision.  
  • Comfort with dynamic and sometimes ambiguous settings, showing the skill to bring a structured, proactive approach to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  
  • Ability to learn quickly and leverage critical thinking and perseverance to take initiatives, solve problems, operate with autonomy and succeed in high-pressure situations.  
  • Willingness to act with courage, lean into conflict and foster the ‘tough’ conversations that need to happen to support our culture and success together
