Job Description

AHRC New York City is seeking a Vice President of Behavioral Integration (VP BI). This executive role is instrumental in enhancing the coordination and effectiveness of behavioral health services across the organization’s programs, including Critical Time Intervention (CTI), Enhanced Step-Down Housing, Crisis Intervention, and services within NYS state-licensed Article 31 and Article 16 Clinics, among others. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, while also working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other Executive Team Members, the VP BI will lead efforts to integrate behavioral health services that promote health equity, ensuring that individuals receive high-quality, person-centered care that is accessible, effective, and aligned with best practices in behavioral health.

SALARY: $200,000-$225,000 per year...plus a comprehensive Benefit package. See Benefit information below.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Behavioral Health Integration:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive behavioral health integration strategy across AHRC NYC’s programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Strengthen the integration of behavioral health within crisis intervention services, Enhanced Step-Down Housing programs, and Critical Time Intervention (CTI) models to support individuals transitioning from intensive care to community-based services.
  • Ensure compliance with Article 31 (mental health clinic services) and Article 16 (services for individuals with Intellectual/developmental disabilities) clinic regulations, optimizing service delivery within these frameworks.
  • Advocate for health equity initiatives that reduce disparities in access to behavioral health care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

2. Program Development & Service Delivery:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of evidence-based behavioral health programs, across a continuum of service offerings, tailored to neuro-divergent individuals.
  • Expand crisis intervention programs and case management services to provide timely, person-centered care and reduce unnecessary hospitalizations.
  • Enhance the effectiveness of Enhanced Step-Down Housing models, ensuring individuals have the support needed to transition successfully into community settings.
  • Utilize Critical Time Intervention (CTI) methodologies to create structured support systems for individuals facing life transitions, preventing crises and improving long-term outcomes.

3. Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of clinical excellence, innovation, and continuous professional growth.
  • Ensure all behavioral health staff are trained in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention techniques, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Promote interdepartmental collaboration to create an integrated behavioral health model across AHRC NYC’s programs and services.

4. Quality Improvement & Outcome Measurement:

  • Develop and oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcome metrics to measure the impact of behavioral health services.
  • Implement data-driven continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives to ensure best practices in behavioral health care delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (NYS Office of Mental Health and OPWDD, among others).

5. Financial Oversight & Resource Development:

  • Manage the behavioral health department’s budget, financial planning, and resource allocation to maximize service impact.
  • Identify and secure funding opportunities, including government grants and philanthropic investments, to support program growth and sustainability.

6. Advocacy, Policy, & Public Engagement:

  • Represent AHRC NYC in statewide policy discussions on behavioral health, advocating for funding and legislative support for IDD and mental health services.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and healthcare providers to enhance service delivery and access to care.
  • Champion health equity initiatives, ensuring that underserved populations receive high-quality behavioral health services tailored to their needs.

Qualifications

 

  • Licensed Psychologist, Social Worker (LCSW), or Mental Health Professional with an active, unrestricted license to practice in New York State.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in behavioral health, preferably within a nonprofit, healthcare, or government-funded setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in innovative community-based interventions and programs, such crisis services as Critical Time Intervention (CTI).
  • Deep understanding of NYS OMH Article 31 clinics and working knowledge of OPWDD Article 16 Clinics, including regulatory compliance, clinical practice standards, service delivery, and reimbursement structures. Knowledge of NYS OMH regulations for residential programs a plus.
  • Strong commitment to health equity and experience developing programs that address disparities in access to behavioral health services.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive innovation, and implement strategic initiatives that enhance service delivery.
  • Experience with budget management, program funding, and securing grants for behavioral health services.
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement skills.
